Understanding the Vision

Inhaus Flooring wanted a centrepiece for their tradeshow booth that could:

• Showcase the eco-friendly story of their Ceramin® flooring, which contains no toxins or PVC.

• Emphasize the product’s contribution to healthy homes by using 25% post-consumer material and being 100% recyclable.

• Be practical for transport and setup, given the fast-paced and mobile nature of tradeshows.

Our goal was to design a table that was visually engaging, easy to assemble, and aligned with the eco-friendly ethos of Ceramin® flooring.

Designing the Knockdown Table

The table design was rooted in our commitment to functionality and sustainability. Here’s how we brought the concept to life:

1. Flat-Pack Design:
We designed the table to be a knockdown piece, meaning it could be easily assembled and disassembled without the need for tools, glue, or hardware. This approach not only made it portable but also reduced the environmental impact of shipping due to its compact packaging.

2. Modern Aesthetic:
The table featured clean lines and a minimalist design to complement Inhaus Flooring’s modern brand identity. We used high-quality plywood, CNC-machined to precision, ensuring durability and a professional finish.

3. Integrated Plexiglass Display Cases:
To effectively showcase the life cycle of Ceramin® floors, we incorporated custom plexiglass display cases into the tabletop. These cases were designed with magnetic removable covers, making it easy to display and update materials inside. They highlighted key aspects of the product’s journey—from sourcing recycled materials to its recyclability—while protecting the samples and graphics from wear during the tradeshow.

Fabrication Process

We worked with Inhaus to design and create a fabrication-ready file and considered the following to bring their vision to life:

• Material Selection: We chose sustainably sourced plywood to align with Inhaus’s eco-conscious values.

• Precision Cutting: The table components were cut with CNC machinery to ensure perfect fit and ease of assembly.

• Plexiglass Integration: The display cases were custom-fabricated to fit seamlessly into the tabletop. The addition of magnetic removable covers ensured the displays could be easily accessed while maintaining a sleek appearance.

• Finishing Touches: The plywood surfaces were sanded, hand-stained, and finished with an eco-friendly coating to enhance the natural grain and provide protection.
