Custom Walnut Armory Closet with Pegboard System
Our client is an avid hunter with a large walk-in rifle vault to boast! He came to us with a vision of outfitting the existing steel structure with solid walnut panels. The mission was twofold. To beautify the rifle closet and create a custom and modular pegboard system with shelving, pegs, and rifle stands.
We began with a glue-up of the raw walnut lumber to create a number of boards for CNC cutting and engraving to size. Shoutout to our trusted craftsmen Ryan Murphy!
A few of the panels include a logo engraving into the centre of the walnut pegboard because hey, why not!
The walnut panels were then carefully assembled and installed on-site.
The bottom shelf walnut panels include a recessed area for the rifle’s butt placement. We designed and fabricated custom rifle stands from 1” thick acrylic to create a delightful contrast against the finished walnut boards. They provide a sturdy resting place for all types of crossbows, rifles, and guns. Custom shelves for the walnut pegboards were also made from 1” acrylic accompanied by 3/4” acrylic pegs cut to various lengths between 2” to 6” to hold them.
Game on! The end result is a configurable and sophisticated storage system that softens the steel exterior.
